An Open Letter to the Dorchester County Public Schools Community 6-16-2021

16 June 2021

An Open Letter to the Dorchester County Public Schools Community

Good afternoon Dorchester County Public Schools Community,

Once again I want to thank everyone for everything you did this past school year to make it a successful year in spite of the pandemic.  We are already in planning mode for the 2021-2022 school year, and we will be returning to school for in-person learning, five days a week.  We cannot wait to welcome everyone back!

Summer Academies begin for middle and high school students on Monday, June 21st.  Elementary Academies begin Monday, July 12th.  Please reach out to your child’s school for more information.

You may have heard the Governor’s message yesterday. He has lifted the “State of Emergency” as it relates to the COVID pandemic.  As of July 1st, the mask mandate is no longer in effect for our schools.  We will continue to be respectful of any individual choices to continue to wear a mask.

Please visit the Dorchester County Health Department website and the DCPS website and Facebook page for details regarding vaccination clinics that now include offering vaccines to youth beginning at age 12.

This will be the last scheduled weekly message. We will reach out if there is any updated information or changes that may impact our school year.

Please enjoy the summer!  Be safe.

W. David Bromwell
