DCPS Receives Financial Literacy Resources from Shore United Bank

Shore United Bank is providing all Dorchester County Public Schools 5th graders with access to Vault: Understanding Money, a financial literacy online program designed to inspire and equip students to make wise financial decisions and promote financial well-being throughout their lifetime.

The program was launched on May 21 when representatives from Shore United Bank joined 5th grade classes in all elementary schools online to introduce the program. Vault is a five-lesson self-paced course that teaches students about financial decision-making, budgeting and spending, income and careers, credit and borrowing, and future planning, all through an engaging, kid-friendly storyline.

Shore United Bank’s sponsorship provides DCPS with unlimited student licenses for the program, professional development and ongoing training and support for teachers, and special events such as the virtual introductory session.  DCPS Social Studies Supervisor Monique Ward said, “The partnership with Shore Bank has provided students an amazing opportunity to engage and be exposed to financial literacy concepts virtually, and we are grateful and excited to incorporate this new resource into our social studies curriculum.”
