2015 Annual Report

Wellness Newsletter

The February edition of the Wellness Newsletter is here! February is a great time to think about love and how it supports wellness. Loving others and feeling loved has been show to lower stress levels, decrease anxiety, boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, and fight illnesses from heart attacks to cancer. And that's not all. Doctors have found that the act of hugging your loved ones can significantly lower blood pressure and raise levels of a hormone that promotes relaxation and the more you hug, the more these benefits increase. "Five Power Verbs That Elevated Our Schools"

School Administrator is a monthly magazine published by AASA, the School Superintendent's Association. Doctor Wagner wrote an article entitled "Five Power Verbs That Elevated Our Schools" for the October 2015 issue. The magazine offered the following abstract: "To forge a connection between community leaders and the public schools, the superintendent devised a thematic structure to categorize action steps for involvement." PARCC-Related Resources

The 2015-2016 school year is the second year students in grades 3-8 and high school will take the PARCC assessments in English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics. Mrs. Jennifer Wingate 2016–2017 Teacher of the Year Mrs. Wingate is a 1st Grade Teacher at South Dorchester School. The Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Jennifer Wingate, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education from Frostburg State University with a dual major in Elementary and Early Childhood Educations, with a minor in Spanish.
